Why get a joiner to fit your doors
A new door is only as good as the opening it goes into, and most openings in older North East houses are not square. The frame has to be packed and fixed true, the threshold has to sit level and shed water away from the house, and the gaps have to be sealed properly rather than hidden under a thick bead of mastic. Get that wrong and the door drops, drags or lets the weather in within a year.
Then there is the inside. Most fitters leave you a new frame and a strip of torn plaster round it. Alex is a joiner, so the architrave and the making good are part of the same job, not a second trade you have to find afterwards.

The standard hardware was upgraded to satin nickel and chrome handles and Ultion thumb-turn cylinders. A thumb-turn locks and unlocks from inside without a key, and the cylinders were keyed alike, so one key opens every door.

Order and book it in
A deposit secures the booking. External doors are made to measure, so the fitting date is set around the delivery.

Out with the old, in with the new
Old frames out, new ones fitted true and sealed, then the architrave and making good.

Check it and hand it over
Every door opened, closed and locked with you, keys handed over, and the area left clean before the final balance is paid.

Do you supply the doors?
Alex supplies and fits them, which is how the Longframlington French doors were done. The quotation covers the doors, the hardware and the fitting.
Can you fit composite doors?
Yes. Composite front and back doors are on the list, along with French doors, PVC doors and bi-fold doors.
Can you upgrade the locks at the same time?
Yes. On the Longframlington job the handles were upgraded and Ultion thumb-turn cylinders went in, keyed alike so one key opens every door.
Do you finish the inside as well?
Yes. Architrave and making good round the new frame are part of the job, because Alex is a joiner first.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. Every job carries a 12 month guarantee on the workmanship.
